Here a couple of interesting things I’ve done over the past few years:
Book author
I started my career as a writer, so it only seemed fitting that I eventually write a book. When my son entered the United States Naval Academy and I began to become familiar with all the history, legend and lore surrounding the place, that seemed like the perfect topic to tackle. The result is “Anchored In Tradition: An unofficial collection of fun, facts, and figures about life at the United States Naval Academy.”
The book is written in a breezy style and constructed so that a reader can practically open to any page and jump right in. It was a lot of fun to assemble and I am hoping a lot of people find it enjoyable to read.
“Anchored in Tradition” is available exclusively on Amazon.
Produce Marketing Association
In addition to bringing to life a content strategy that provided unparalleled value to members and provided boundless content marketing opportunities for events and membership, we created several content-based revenue streams.
We combined efforts to use influential bloggers that amplified our message with multiple content monetization avenues through a media wall at our biggest annual event. It includes a hand-curated social media feed, photo gallery, promotional billboards and a video loop. The result – massive social engagement and solid incremental revenue that included an overall sponsorship opportunity.
Part of the content monetization strategy at PMA included digital ads as part of event sponsorship packages, the association’s first digital revenue-generating offering.
We also created a new revenue stream with the first pure-play advertising opportunity with the addition of an ad spot on the heavily used membership directory.
Region’s Business
With Philadelphia’s daily newspapers in free fall and alternative weeklies struggling, Region’s Business filled the void with a weekly edition brimming with in-depth reporting and thoughtful commentary focused on the intersection of business, politics and public policy.
You can still check out interactive PDF versions of the editions here.
